Volunteer Opportunities

Curtis Fair

The annual Curtis Fair, held at the beginning of October, is a 36-year tradition that focuses on creating a themed day of fun for our school community and the greater Los Angeles community. Contact:  Stacey Fish 3vp@curtispa.org

Curtis Celebrates!

The Curtis Celebrates! event committee assists with the planning and execution of the Parents Association’s largest and most spectacular fundraiser. The success of our major PA fundraiser depends on parent and guardian participation. Parents and guardians are needed to solicit live and silent auction items, wrap auction baskets, assist with close-out, and help set up the event.
Time Commitment: Based on desired level of involvement. This event takes place in early March. Event planning begins in spring of the school year preceding the year of the event; while auction planning begins the following November and continues up right up to the event in March.  Contact:  Stacey Fish 3vp@curtispa.org

The 2nd VP Committee

The 2nd VP committee assists the Curtis administration with school-wide social functions such as Admissions Open Houses and Testing Days, and Grandparents & Special Friends Day.
Time Commitment: Very flexible. Contact:  Annabelle Apley 2vp@curtispa.org

The 4th VP Community Committee

The 4th VP Community Committees help to plan and organize community initiatives including Book Spree, Faculty and Staff Appreciation, the Hot Lunch Program, and the annual Parents Association End-of-Year Luncheon.
Time Commitment: Very flexible and varies through out the year. Contact: Danyel Lau

Hot Lunch Helper

Curtis School offers a catered lunch service for students every school day. Parents and guardians are needed to help serve Hot Lunch to Curtis students. Volunteering for Hot Lunch is rewarding for both parents and their children. Children love to see their parents helping out on campus!
Time Commitment: Daily, weekly, or monthly. Very flexible. Contact: Danyel Lau

Curtis Library

If you love books, you’ll feel right at home in the Curtis School Library! During morning Library Workshops, parents and guardians help the librarians shelve returned books, prepare new books for the library shelves and may be asked to help with displays. They also assist students with monthly Maker Days during lunch recesses.

Time Commitment: Library Workshops take place after drop-off in the morning, once a month. Maker Days take place on the last Friday of each month. Parents are welcome to help students with the themed, monthly Maker Project. Parents/guardians may sign up to participate in either or both of these opportunities on an ad hoc basis throughout the school year. Contact: PA President

Enrichment / Community Service

Parents and guardians are welcome to help Curtis students participate in projects that raise awareness and give back to the community at large.

Seedlings (DK- 2nd Grade): Parents/guardians coordinate monthly community service activities for our youngest students during lunch recess.

Buds (3rd & 4th Grades): Parents/guardians help Upper Elementary students with their monthly community service leadership club that meets during lunch recess.

Curtis Cares Community Service Day: All families, faculty, and staff are invited to participate in projects that benefit a number of non-profit organizations on one day in the spring. Parents and guardians are also needed to help organize this event.
