On May 17th, in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, award-winning children’s book author Paula Yoo will come to campus to speak with our parent community and hold two student assemblies, LE and UE. With our parents, she will discuss her writing journey and her inspiration to combat the toxic effects of the “Model Minority Myth” stereotype. With our students, she will raise awareness of the importance of diverse representation in children’s literature with her non-fiction books, many of which are taught in K-12 classrooms to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander history and historical figures who have contributed positive change in America.
