International Lunch Day 3/17/23

Dear Curtis Families,

We are super excited to be bringing you our annual International Lunch Day celebration on March 17, 2023! This is a meaningful and fun day in which our students get to explore the different foods from all over the world as represented by all continents: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Europe, North America, Central America, and South America.

Over the years, this day has always brought us great joy and pride through the appreciation and respect of the rich cultural diversity within our school community. We rely on you, parent volunteers, to make this celebration a success. Please sign up to donate your favorite dish, entrée, dessert, and/or side dish from your own nationality or another. We want every continent to be represented! We also need parent volunteers throughout the day to make this event a success.

We will be receiving food/dish donations during drop-off time (7:30 am until 9:00 am) at the Circle. If you need to make alternate arrangements to bring your dish, or if you would like to deliver your dish hot at lunchtime on Friday, please reach out to your Table Captains as listed in the Sign-up Genius link. We ask that all dishes arrive no later than 11:00 am, in time for lunch service beginning at 11:15 am. Dishes can be homemade or purchased from a restaurant. We will gladly heat your dish if it needs it.

Dish Requests:
  • Two disposable 9x13 foil pans with lids or similar packing (One for each lunch period)
  • Each pan is to serve at least 20 people
  • Nut-Free
  • Each tray should be labeled with your name, country of origin, the dish name, and any heating or serving instructions.

To add to our celebration, all students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear international apparel or colors. Casual Dress Guidelines should be followed, and students must wear athletic shoes.

PLEASE CLICK HERE to sign up for dish donations and/or to volunteer. This lunch celebration takes the place of the regular K Kids lunch service, which will not be available on that day. As a reminder, this event is only for the parents who have signed up to help on Sign Up Genius. If you signed up to volunteer, you may arrive at the time designated on the Sign-Up Genius to check-in. We can’t wait to collaborate with you and bring this beautiful celebration to life!

Thank you!

From your International Lunch Day Committee: Danyel Lau, Julia Chang, Rachel Kirenga, Maisha Pajardo-O’Neal, Iva Shah, Jin Sun Lee, and Christine Zenjiryan.
